6th Machine Gun Company AIF

My particular ANZAC interest is with 6th MGC and I am in the process of photographing all of the CWGC headstones for members of the above unit. I would very much like to hear from any relatives of men who served. I have also conducted a great deal of research into the action at First Bullecourt. One of my wife's relatives Pte. Henry Wood was killed whilst serving with the unit at this infamous action.

My Great Uncle Lt. Alfred Lindsay (Lin) Newland, Kia 8 November 1916 France, signed up with your relative Ernest William Peacock along with W D Cameron from Laverton Victoria. They all served with the 22nd Battalion in 1915, Peacock and Newland both served in the 6th Machine Gun Company 1916-1917. Lin was very good mates with Ernest William Peacock racing and fixing bikes.
I have a photo of the three in uniform before leaving for Egypt. They are listed on the Laverton School honour board now in Atona Meadows. We had a day in 2016 to celebrate the unvealing of 4 ww1 interpretation boards and the reconditioning of the honour board completed by Hobsons bay council
