Re: 31st Battalion AIF

A history of the 31st Battalion (from formation until present day) has been written by Bob Burla. I believe it is at the printers and will be available in early 2005. The book is available from The War Book Shop.

Re: 31st Battalion AIF

Thanks Tim for the heads up. I believe Bob passed on some years ago and his wife Elsa is seeing the project through. Also believe the project has been some years 'at the printers' so I like many others await this 2005 launch!!!

Re: 31st Battalion AIF

Finally 'Crossed Boomerangs' is in print and should be now available. A great tribute to the 'Kennedy Regiment' in all forms through the years, and the enormous research of Bob Burla and the patience of his wife Elsie.
Covers from establishment of coastal batteries in North Queensland, through Boer War, North Queensland Expeditionary Force, WWI, inter war years, WWII, post war to present, a great read.
Found the item on Lt Col Toll's life achievements most illuminating for an unassuming WWI commander.

Re: 31st Battalion AIF

Hi Bluegum,

My interest being the 32nd Battn (one also without a written history). I can't recommend enough 'The Story of the Fifth Australian Division' by Ellis. In my opinion the best unit history written.
