Ross H Mudge 2/3 Pioneer Batn, Executed 1943
Hello,
Last year I purchased a 1943 calendar/song book handed out to POW’s by the Vatican. Inside were a number of names of Kiwi, Brits and Aussie POW’s. One of these, Ross H Mudge nx54257, died 13 November 1943 in Italy. According to the Australian War Memorial web sight he was executed. There is a digital copy of his service file on the National Achieves of Australia web sight but there is no mention of his execution. Does anyone have any information on this chap? I would like to find out all I can on him and confirm his execution and find out the reason why. Any information would be gratefully received.
Ross Harold Mudge, NX 54257, Pte, 2/3Pioneer Battalion, DOB 06/02/1920, Enlist 24/01/1940.

Hi Chris,
My father mentions Ross Mudge in his POW interrogation statement made at the end of WW2.He provided his burial location and his address in NSW, this was made some 18mths after Mudge was shot. I presume they must have been mates.
