Seymour was also the main Victorian training area for the many Light Horse reinforcement details required during the first World War. The Australian Light Horse Memorial Park has been developed on 320 acres of land to the east of Seymour on the Goulburn Valley Highway. Originally part of the Old Seymour Army Camp and known locally and nationally as site 17, it has many relics of the long history of Army occupation of the land. Most significant are perhaps the water troughs to be found at the end of Light Horse Drive in the industrial estate.
