Why did Anzac's swap/enlist in the British Expeditionary Forces in Egypt?

Hi,

I am new to this forum but was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this questions. I am researching WWI soldiers and are wondering why some Australian soldiers joined the British Expeditionary Forces while overseas?

The main reason I ask is I am researching a young man who enlisted late in 1915, travelled to Egypt and after a few weeks, he joined the British Expeditionary Forces. At first I assumed he joined so he could join the fighting earlier then the Australian troops but that was probably not the case as he arrived on the Western Front at the same time as the troops from the 16th Battalion, the unit he was in, arrived. It is a little puzzling and I hope someone can shed some light.

Thank you!

Hi Jones,

Egypt was the main gathering and training hub of the Anzac forces.

Generally accepted official history about Anzacs and Gallipoli is very misleading. There is a greatfact covered by military censorhip of the time for strategic and political reasons.

To learn or evaluate any information about WW1 and the Battle Of Gallipoli or anzacs, you should definitely read this book. It is full of reliable western sources and refutes the best seller Gallipoli books with undeniable evidences.

You will thank me for thisemoticon

here is Amazon link of the book.
